“There isn’t the slightest shred of evidence
that the material world exists independent
of observation" (Fred Alan Wolf)
“Nature” and the “nature of reality” most fairly
describe my interests from my youth growing up on a farm near
Eldridge, Iowa, to the present, at my location in Iowa City. The
nature aspect of my interests include my early involvement in
sports and the outdoors, beginning with baseball and proceeding to
tennis, racquetball, golf, collegiate level volleyball, (The
University of Iowa volleyball club) bike riding
(five Ragbrai rides cross the state of Iowa from the Missouri River
to the Mississippi river) kayaking, camping, and environmental
activities and organizations (The Nature Conservancy,
Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, National Parks Conservation
Association, Environmental Advocates, and Citizens for Community
Improvement).
The Nature of reality aspect, often referred to as
metaphysics or ontology, also began at an early age with my intense
interest in science of all kinds, stimulated by the space race
beginning in the late 1950s and culminating with the moon landing in
1969. Then, in my late twenties I happened upon a subject that I
call quantum reality—an ontology that emerged as a result
of the quantum revolution in physics. Years of reading and research
in this subject resulted in many book reviews posted on the Amazon
web site and the eventual publication of two books, the first in
1994 and the second in 2011, both of which are available on this web
site. I also became involved in other science and philosophy
organizations and activities including: sound therapy, myo/skeletal
massage, MAPS (Mid-America Paleontology Society) IAF (Iowa
Atheists and Freethinkers), and MUFON—the Mutual UFO Network
for which I am a field investigator and Star Team member.
